Nail-Biting

My nails finally grew

To one millimeter plus two

They were crooked and uneven,

But man, was I so proud.

My sister has talons

That they would love in salons,

But I'll say it was nice to see

White on my fingernails.

But I filed them

To smoothen them

And that made them shorter.

And I clipped them,

For they were chipped then,

And still askew were they.

Then finally

It came to be

While I was writing an essay,

They quietly

Unobtrusively

Snuck up into my mouth again.

And now I'm back at stage one,

Waiting for my nails to grow.

I hope they do it soon, you know,

Cause it's break and I have time to paint them.
