My Weapon of Choice

Location

Uncertainty grows around us as time whispers into our ears

And with age, we lose hope, year after year

Dreams are planted and watered for the young at heart

But time comes to play and tears these dreams apart.

The unquestionable, the unimagined,

The sulfur in our eyes,

Society gives us a fear that lingers, grows, and hides.

The fear that life is meaningless,

This fear forces shut our eyes.

We plead to see the good in this

As humanity lets out a sigh.

But with a pen as my weapon of choice

I take a breath and find my voice.

I fight this war, one by one,

And sit still, awaiting the dawn.

We are strong, we are true

And this poison that overcomes you,

It grows and wanes,

It bursts into flames

It is time to rewrite this truth.

Around the carcass of our youth,

The membrane of this life.

Open your eyes, it is time to fight.

The power of a pen is more so than any sword.

It holds with it the hopes, the dreams, and a potent cure.

With a pen comes great chances.

With a pen comes great hope.

For the holder of a pen is able to express

The ways that they must cope.

A pen is a companion.

Everyday life is a façade.

And I shall go down fighting

As I rewrite my plot.

A pen holds emotion,

A pen holds our fears,

And lets us let go

With a single tear.

With the written word we may tear the world apart.

With a pen and a spark, we set afire our hearts.

Uncertainty grows around us as time whispers into our ears

And with age, we lose hope, year after year

But with a pen as my weapon of choice,

I take a breath and find my voice.

A pen can do more damage to an enemy then any sword as well as heal wounds most medicine can't even begin to treat. You explain the power of a pen as well as the bound most poets feel towards their pens beautifully and strongly. This is an amazing piece thank you for sharing this on the site and please pst lots more.
