On My Way

I am the moon that breaks through the dark night.

I stay hidden behind the light during the day,

Hoping to go unnoticed.

But my time to shine is when everyone’s asleep,

Because then no judgements will be made.

Tomorrow,

I will not hide behind the daylight,

Everyone will see the image

Of the moon edging into the illuminated sky.

I will peek through the daylight,

Letting people know

I am on my way.

I am here.

Soon,

I will rise every day,

Cut through the darkness of the night,

And become the sun.

I will shine so strikingly to show

Who I really am.

I will be seen by everyone

And everything.
