My Poetry Will Still Be There

When my stories were too bare,

When my letters were too long,

When all my thoughts were a-tumble,

My poetry was there.

When rhyming was appealing,

When friends would not hush up,

When all the world was crumbling down,

My poetry was there.

When adults became so annoying,

When kids were far too young,

When I felt stuck in the middle of it all,

My poetry was there.

When my heart did split in anguish,

When a memory popped up again,

When I could no longer run and hide,

My poetry was there.

Someday my words will slur out,

Someday I will not write,

Someday all thoughts will be like dust,

But,

My poetry will still be there.
