For My Own Sake

Sometimes, our things, for granted we can take

Constantly shopping for the newest things.

Just stop!  Look around you, for goodness sake.

Caring for nothing except what we make,

And esteeming ourselves as Queens and Kings.

Sometimes, our things, for granted we can take.

You lose your phone, your hands begin to quake

You can’t live without it’s melodic rings!

Just stop! Look around you, for goodness sake.

Only concerned about Bieber and Drake

Forever praising whatever they sing.

Sometimes, our things, for granted we can  take.

With these distractions, our families do break

Held together by nothing but frayed strings.

Just stop! Look around you, for goodness sake.

When others do suffer and their hearts ache

Ignorance blinds and to us nothing brings.

Sometimes, my things, for granted I can take

So, I looked around me, for my own sake.
