to my old self.

Dear my past self,

Here are the words I so desperately needed to hear, I now pass them to you hoping they reach you in time. Just put it down. This will become an addiction you struggle with for years, scars stay forever, even after they fade. Tell someone when it happens for the first time, this is not the way a father should act, he isn't teaching, he's taking advantage of your innocence and it will haunt you.
Hug your grandparents, your great grandparents, and anyone you're afraid to lose. Take pictures with them, of them, write down their stories. hug and appreciate your favorite cat, tell him you love him, stop taking him for granted. He's going to help gone before you know it, and you're going to miss him so much. Talk to your best friend, be there for him, keep him company and tell your mom if something is off with him.
Cut your hair short, you'll love it. Date who you want, girls, boys, it's your life and your love to give. Be who you want to be, try new things. The experience will be worth it, you just have to try it for yourself.
Cling to the music that speaks to you, read every poem you can get your hands on. And write: buy a notebook and pour your heart onto the pages. They are are a city in the midst of a drought, your words are the rain that need to survive. You need your words to survive. Fill every page. If it's not good enough, rewrite it until it is. Be cautious of people, follow your instincts. Listen to your heart and your mind, do the right thing, even when it's hard.
Don't shut yourself off from the world, embrace it. Keep your head up, it will get better, I promise you. Don't put off getting your liscense, it's a freeing feeling. Work torwards your freedom, don't lose sight of your goals. Do not let anyone make you feel small or insagnificant or as if you don't matter and will never amount to anything; you do and you will change the world and help people with your words.
Live for you, to make yourself happy. Don't you dare take yourself out of the world before the great goddess of time takes your hand and walks you to the next, you have so much to live for even if you don't see it. You will be happy, you will make it. Don't give up and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
You are strong, you are brave, and you are capable of handling anything this life throws at you. Do not forget that. Your life is worth more than all the money in the world, more than any amount of pain that screamed for you to take it away. You are more beautiful than a million flowers, and you are so valuble: learn to love yourself, and never lose the fire behind your eyes.

Yours truly,
the future.
