My necklace

The size of a nickel, it rests between my breasts

on it 2 A’s are etched each missing a leg,

leaning against each other for support

it means strength and power

It was givin to protect me

since I was a girl.

tarnished and worn through use

the cord is fraying, the knots giving way

but it still holds up.

Never once has it been removed

A reminder to never give up
