My Mother

She withstood the pain of bringing me to this world,

she held me close, but at that time, I didn't know what for.

She heard me when I said my first words,

who knew she'd forever keep it in her mind on record?

She watched me take my very first steps,

nothing but joy was her effect.

She wiped the tears away when I fell off the swings,

to see her little girl cry would force her heart to sting.

She played dolls with her beloved daughter,

knowing one day it soon wouldn't matter.

She took me to my soccer games,

proudly cheering her only daughter's name.

She held me close when I had my first heartbreak,

offering her broken little girl some fries and a chocolate milkshake.

She gave me the keys to my very first car,

thinking that eventually her baby girl will soon live afar.

She didn't know that I was not going to leave her,

having the emptiness of my mother was a challenge I am not willing to conquer.

My mother is somone I cannot live without,

our memories would forever replay in my head, day in and day out.
