My Mask

Under an invisible mask we all hide,

On the surface, we have one image,

but under the mask we are more.

Under my mask I hide,

I am a girl wanting to grow up.

I want to explore the world and what life has to offer.

I am interested in many things I am afraid to show.

I want to do this and that, but I am afraid of being judged.

I hold many dreams under my mask,

dreams that seem almost intangible or impossible to realize.

The time has come and mask has cracked like an eggshell,

I am a woman now.

I am more brave than I know.

I am breaking barriers, crossing bridges, and sailing over oceans.

I am fufilling my dreams.

Under an invisible mask we all hid,

We were scared and afraid to make the leap.

When the time came, we cracked through our shells,

Our mask couldn't contain us any longer.

We were all meant to be more than that white eggshell.
