My Little Brother

My younger brother is not aware of what I do mention

For it happened when I was 9 thus of historical dimension

At the time he was just 3, the cutest child in a one piece

Footsy PJ, with a bear embroidered on the blue fleece

He was fast asleep at the time I do vividly remember

And I had nostalgic thoughts about him, I herein surrender

I said to myself, “Appreciate this very moment” so dear

For he will not be a baby like this forever, I was sincere

With sparkling blue eyes and straight ash blonde hair

He was a little devil indeed to none he could compare

It is without a doubt, a special time for which I reminisce

And particularly odd for such a young child I do not dismiss

For today I am 50 and he is 44 and life has taken its toll

“Was it just pure innocence?” which time blatantly stole.
