My Island
I dream of an island
where my worries are held at bay
I am alone on this island
I just lounge all day
I watch the water
lap at my feet
I smile toward the sky
Can’t tell where earth and sky meet
I watch the dandelions dancing
In the wind, they are tossed
Its white fluff blows away
each a dream lost
I am alone on this island,
but I don’t mind
The real world is corrupt
So very unkind
I could spend my whole life here
wild and free,
but like all children, I must wake
This is only a dream
I wish I could stay,
but that wouldn’t be right
Dreams are dreams
pictures in the night
They say there is a place
for dreamers like me
But for now I watch
the sun set on the sea
