My depression is a Koala Bear

I carry a koala bear on my back.
It's arms are just long enough to
wrap around my neck.

It nestles into my hair and sighs in my ear.
It is small enough for me to carry most days
but heavy enough to feel like a burden
when I am tired.

It is a novelty for me at times
and I flaunt that I can do it all
even with a koala bear on my back.

But then it nestles into my hair
and sighs in my ear
and I realize it's arms are just long enough
to wrap around my neck.
