My Birthday Wish

Location

It’s August, light of glowing yellow and calm blue, orange and pink sunsets,

The grass crunchy and warm, tanning brown below radiant rays

The last days of summer vacation do not die so quickly

For the sun only brightens, kissing my skin

Aphrodite, bless these days with your beauty

While Eris smiles as she kills the green with fire,

I’d like to see the beauty of death and life shine through the trees’ brittle leaves

Hear my birthday prayer…

Send me a giving heart,

A wise, sharp mind,

Quick graceful speed,

To better end the remainder of yet another year God has blessed me with

On the twentieth, let me put on a smile all day for myself and those who are without one

Let my family and friends surround me with their warm presence,

Let my love shower me in his sweet kisses, welcome me with the race that comes with his embrace

In this moment, there is much confusion, there is much longing,

There is much searching for the unknown…

But on my birthday, let everything be found.
