My Backyard

My Backyard

"This silent space has seen many a things.
Screaming, yelling, running people
Having a good time playing or sitting on the swing.
Not far a cow pasture, summer cattle eating their fill among the tall wheat in summer
Gone for grain by winter
Snow, grass, heat, cold
All take effect in the backyard
The wind still blows, making trees shiver
Makes me acknowledge the fun and the dither
Quiet at night
Except for the storm
Yet even when the sky growls and cracks
I find comfort in it and have means of relax
The moon shines as bright as a neighboring star
It brightens the yard and shines from afar.
So during the day I race and jump like a newborn colt
It's a place to make believe a life of pretend
A nice place to read and have hours to spend
Land that is marred
My backyard..."
