As for thy shadows,
My heart fell among them,
Light to capture in their fullest embrace
of remembrance.

Stars, flocks. The exemption of green waves
intermingling with the caves
where mud sun blocked hides thee
found in joyful exuberance.

Eyes search and grasp.
Hear me faithful bird;
Thy wings churn for mournful hours
To limit the infinite shoreframe,

Steadily calm sky’s implored carriage
To reach horizon
And bleak in darkness.
O, thy journey is tedious!

But die—not footless foul,
Hide motion unstrided from beak’s courtless slay
And count mountains of tidal wedge
Split for clock’s appeal.

Lies their aggravated red
And winter’s bleached scorn
Fancied by the melodramatic destruction
Of the mending elements.

Confine distressed hearts!
Streams condense and waves collapse
For thy weary wonderment;
Deliverance approaches in austere upholding.
