Moving Box Memories
Cardboard boxes, packing paper,
Tape to hold it all in place.
Carpet indents in sets of four
Where furniture used to fill the space.
Empty rooms and empty walls,
Memories all that remain.
Jammed full truck parked out front,
Suitcases ready for the plane.
New roads and unfamiliar faces,
Another house with empty rooms.
Slowly filling with old boxes
As new memories begin to bloom.
Pick up a notebook and a pen,
Write them out to be read.
Empty the house of packing paper,
Fill it with your stories instead.
