a mother's hold

you carried me.

you fed me.

you lifted me.

you let me grow.

i grew away from you.

i saw other things,

i got caught up in it.

you struggled.

your eyes bled tears,

but i never saw struggle.

I never knew struggle,

because you carried that too.

you carried all of the pain,

so i never had to.

strong woman, my strong woman.

how could i ever forget you?

how could i ever stray from you?

your plead,

those eyes,

the warm touch,

the god-like embrace,

opened my ears.

and there i was.

back in the womb.

because no matter where i end up,

my home is you.
