mother's day

little girls riding their bikes
through cement floors
looking
searching for the womanhood in their mothers faces
finding full length clothing that is hiding behind drugs
in the street corner while their "boyfriend" is involved in dice games
when they least expected
you will find them watching you underneath her black hoodie
and broken down spongebob pajamas
pulled over rows of hair that hasn't been groom in months
they love like quiet storms
their smile makes brief appearances
and the guys that had her, keeping secrets
not revealing who they really are to these girls
tucked deeply behind whispers between kisses
