Mother, please come back to me.

Mother, please come back to me,

Why have you gone so far away?

You said, together we would always be.

My heart is a lock and you have the key,

How do I convince you to stay?

Mother, please come back to me.

Over a cup of your favorite tea,

We talked, we laughed and if you had your way

You said, together we would always be.

Wrapped in your arms, the darkness would flee,

And I'd be content until the light of the Sun's bright ray.

Mother, please come back to me.

Up in the branches of the highest tree,

Your eyes bright, your laughter gay,

You said, together we would always be.

The tears gather and flow free,

At the thought of another lonely day,

Mother, please come back to me,

You said, together we would always be.

Eep. Its on public display.

This was inspired by a character I created for a story who lost his mother when he was young. He doesn't know where she has gone or why. All he knows is that he misses her terribly.

I know the title is terrible but I couldn't think of an appropriate one. I hope my poem is okay since it is one of my first. I like writing and so I thought I'd give this a shot. Poetry is a  beautiful thing and I hope I haven't butchered it any.  :)
