Mother and her child

Snatched from my home land,

Before I could understand

Away from my mother and brother

Never to see them again.

We travelled for miles,

Compact like books in piles

Alongside many of my kind

No food or water for days

Collapse on exhaustion

Lie in faeces and covered in diseases.

Scared and alone

It’s a living nightmare

The cries and pleas,

Haunted me

Death was in the air

I just want to be safe

Taken back to my original life.

Taken to a hidden blacked out house

Beaten and raped

I just can’t understand

Why me?

Under command

There is no escape

Never to see the light of day

To feel the fresh grass,

Or the wind on my face.

My childhood is gone

Every hour is too long

Little or no food and water

Resulted in fights with no order

Answer is to pull out my teeth

With no pain relief

I can no longer sleep

I’m filled with despair

Its hell on earth.

My feet bleed

Hurled abuse as I plea

Where are my rights?

Please let me leave!

My life is now over

Exploited to the end

As they smash in my head

Slit my throat

No longer a purpose to them.

Chop me to pieces

It’s misleading

So people can pretend

As I would offend

Those who chose to ignore

My want to be home

Where I belong

What would you say-

If I told you –

I was a child or animal in pain,

Would your opinions change?

Please stand up for me

Reduce the demand

For slaughter, slavery and the insane

As we can’t speak

For the asylum we seek

Protect and save us

From this no world order
