I know a queen that rules without malice
and each elegant finger has a callus,
but her hands are soft and her arms ever steady,
always at the ready
to defend her kingdom and her heirs
and none will ever care
more for thee
than she
who held you in her body as you grew;
she, who looked under your bed for childhood's monsters then slew
them all;
she, whose love for you will never falter or fall,
so raise your cup in toast to my sovereign,
she, who in my heart will forever reign.
