Morning

Fri, 08/02/2013 - 19:03 -- AJacobs

A land covered in dust and built on sin is cleansed by the morning rain.

The drowsy rooster flaps to the roof

As the weary farmer stumbles home.

With quiet determination, the sun slowly shines itself over the wet ground.

Small signs of the earlier storm remain:

A broken window

An empty stable

Stained tissues across the floor.

The rain washed away some, but the damage of the storm could not be repaired.

As the weary rooster climbs to the roof

And the drowsy farmer climbs to bed,

They are struck by the freshness of morning

and the not quite dried darkness of night.
