More than just a Dreamer

Ever since I was a little girl

with bright brown eyes and bouncy curls

Music filled my every day and made me feel a certain way

I dreamt of ways I could find fame

and how I would master this tricky game

To be a singer is my only goal

the dream is a part of my heart, my soul

To find a job doing what i love

i'll need to find a school that fits like a glove

The city seems to be the perfect place for me

to practice, make connections, and be the best that i can be

With so much competition, criticism, and hate

I need to rely on more than just fate

I'll need to practice, perservere, and try my best

so that i'll be sure to stand out from all the rest

The world is cold and this career is not simple

You need much more than a cute face or dimples

I'll need the love and support of my family and friends

and my own confidence until the end

Until the day I land my dream profession

where i can use my voice as a form of expression

Only then will i be happy and finally freed

to live as more than a dreamer and actually succeed
