Mobile Deceit
We walk: heads down, minds consumed
By the ever-growing social haven
That we seize in grasp.
Its palpable exterior draws us in;
The smooth, glassy cellular solid
Holds promises of euphoria.
It’s face-to-face no longer,
Only double taps on a virtual memory.
Human interaction is lost.
Where did it go?
My mouth is woven shut,
Tapered at the ends with a hashtag.
And all that’s audible is
-ping!-
