Mistaken Steps

Running off

to somewhere else

the past tracks

close behind

 

Its shadow looming

steps in place

while preying

to remind

 

That time pursues

the fleetest man

with doggedness

and ire

 

To kindle each

mistaken step

into a raging

— fire
