Misplaced in the Midwest

Location

In two thousand and six, my parents hit me with a kick

Leaving my home of green, rolling hills in Ireland

Moving across the ocean to this barren land of cowboys and lost dreams

8 years later--I'm stuck in a place less desired

I use substance to cover up the fears

As I think back on all the years

On how much I missed out on

--my cousins, my family, my home

I am a stranger to those people

Yet even worse, I am a stranger here
