When you first got in all those years ago
Seemed fun, made you laugh, the thrill of a show
But it was hard work to run
Stay late nights, and practice, until it was done
Soon found yourself to a demanding commitment
Was all good until it slipped
You were the star, now you’ve back-tripped
Into a mirror part, with few lines
Still apart of the show, still alive
Find it more demanding with no benefit
Anymore, the light has lost its glitter
Fight to stay in character
To keep your place is getting harder
Stay later into the night, grow weary
You try your hardest and lower your dignity
Wait for the day of opening night
Where the crowd will await as your stand up in sight
It has chosen another for the lead
In vain all those nights you gave and bled
Out your spirit, it is no more
All for a show,
The show must go on!
And as should you,
For the world is a stage, friend
