Mirror, mirror on the wall

Matthew 15:19-20

19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, and blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

Satire … Mirror, mirror on the wall …

Watering artificial flowers … they don’t seem to grow at all

Maybe I need some new glasses … maybe I don’t hear the call

Once too young to grasp the purpose … filling diapers without trying

Now grown up to certain measure … in life with just little crying

The tears I shed for only self … the grieves I caused just for others

Cause and effect were all ignored … as for care of others I did not bother

Me, mine and ours the only way … “God helps them who care for self”

A phrase designed and carved in hell … next to a bible on a dusty shelf

I seem to have it figured out … I feel assured in my fake assurance

Sunday I’ll be in church again … as I survive with no endurance

I will listen to the preacher … and sing a song or two with folks

And put change in the offering plate … to help me when I croak
