Minimally Speaking
Few things shape a persons psyche
In a year like a lover
and the first to entice thee
Sixteen shaped me through a love I lost
At the time keeping up no matter the cost
The birth of my brother
The loss of my lover
A renaissance change
To which after then I twas never the same
Sixteen showed me whole new friends
Navigating a new high school and whole new bends
This was the year I made amends
Found some humility and tied some loose ends
A little less rigid than I was a year before
A little less boring yet a little more mature
The beginning of my junior year brought allure
My classes, marching band and more
seeming a little less academic
More a social chore
Sixteen was a year that gave as much as it took
My beliefs and foundations so readily shook
This year found my childhood slipping away
Turning the next chapter, for the dawn of the next day.
