Midsummer Sun
Location
The midsummer sun hangs low in the sky
As children run to catch fireflies
The grass rustles softly underneath small feet
While parents watch cars pass on the street
These kids grow up, and faced with the change
They wish that things would stay the same
No more grass under their feet
There are no parents out watching the street
The years go by, children grow older
As the nights start to get colder
The midsummer sun is nowhere to be found
Frosty winds tickle their nose without a sound
Years later, when they are gray and old
Their grandchildren will remember the stories they told
About midsummer suns low in the sky
And little hands catching fireflies
The midsummer sun hangs low in the sky
As children run to catch fireflies
The grass rustles softly underneath small feet
While parents watch cars pass on the street
