Midnight Thoughts

I lay on my bed in my big green room.

Uncle Tom's Cabin gives a gold sort of gloom.

The books on my shelf stand tall in a row.

I must write this down so tomorrow I'll know

All the thoughts I thought as I lay on my bed

And all the things I saw with this sleepy head.

I sleep in my bed in my big green room.

Through glass, stars and moon shine a silvery gloom.

Shadows from the leaves from trees in the row...

I must write this down so tomorrow I'll know

All the dreams I dreampt as I sleep in my bed

And all the places I went in this sleepy head.
