A Metamorphosis

A metamorphosis

Image.

Your looming shadow

hunched stature

disappointing glare.

Choked back tears

whispers speaking

riddles

painful words.

Demanding to be heard.

Imagine

a voice inside

you cant ignore

powerful

hungry

feeding off each and every

flaw

it can find.

Imagine

each day

you pray

you will change

be

better

beautiful

not be

you.

Undergo a change

a metamorphosis.

Imagine

that these demons

that burn you

inside and out

that their words

are gone.

You smile in the

mirror

that one held you

hostage

and image once

possessed you

with shining

self acceptance

Imagine

a change

in yourself,

your sisters,

your brothers,

that look into

their mirrors

and no longer

shatter

before them.

Image

that this

is what must change.

Our demons

trapped within us

will become

beautiful butterflies

not sickening moths.

Our inner voices

will change to

lift us.
