Merged together as one nation

Our lives are merged together,
Here in this moment
We are one, yet many
Our colors fly high
Vibrant, different colors
Merged together, seemingly invisible in this red, blue and white flag.
We are merged together
Merged in this foreign place
This place for immigrants, slaves, indentured labourers
This place that carries our history
We have made here our home
Here our culture thrives
And the food of our homeland still sits on our table
And the language of our ancestors we still speak
This is our home
Our people are different
Our lives, our skin, our minds
They are all different
Yet here we are
Merged together
In this moment.
