Me and You

Dear Love,

From the moment I was born,

You were a part of my life.

From Grandmas and Aunts,

To Grandpas and Uncles.

You were present.

And when Mom was around,

You were there like a blanket.

But when Dad was there,

You always went missing.

I began to think that I scared you away.

Then friendships were made and you began to show up again.

Suddenly, you were giving me butterflies

When I started to crush on that boy.

And just when I thought you were sticking around,

You killed the butterflies and shattered my heart with it.

Over and over again I tried to let you back in my life.

But time and time again you let me down.

Finally he showed up.

You came running back,

And I kept my distance.

But when I looked back you were right behind me

I decided to give you one final chance.

And I'm glad I did,

Because you put my heart back together again.

Now my heart overflows with you and him.

And I'm never letting that go.

Love Always

Me and you
