Maybe

I see maybe

Etched in the faces

of old actors

like craggy stones

I see maybe

in a false kiss

on the stage

like empty butterflies

I see maybe

in a lone spotlight

on a wooden floor

like an invitation

I see maybe

in dance slippers

on waxed wood

like silken hearts

I see maybe

in a coloratura

on the high E

like painted lips

I see maybe

in myself

in the light

on my own
