Masked

I wish I could take off this mask

it limits how much of me I can reveal

and how much I can see of the world

it's amazing how one thing

can get in the way of many

maybe it's best though

not to take off this mask

so I don't have to see the variety

of this thing we call life

and maybe it's not best

to show the broken down girl

the world has created

by its judgment

and false security of perfect

maybe it is for the better

that you never see that part of me

and I don't see the damaged world

full of unreachable expectations

and their wishes for me to be

absolutely perfect
