the mask
Be Social
Get up
put on the mask
be in the crowd
Don't let them know
Speak
empty words
if you speak at all
but
They all picked up on my silence,
the lack of emotion in my face,
how I just seemed to stand there
hollow
following anyone
or anything
that could have been said.
Looking at them
I could only see
faces of concern, and grief.
With that I could only feel the mask start to break,
as if
the muscles in my face were trying to shake the mask off
I wanted to cry.
Feelings of mortification
their eyes on me,
making cuts into the mask.
