Mardi Gras

Passion, music, worldly delight;
Ecstatic, they celebrate all night.
For at dawn, there are sacrifices;
Pleasures to be spurned as vices.

Humanity has this wonderful disposition.
Vehemently we savor moments before prohibition.
Life too shall fleet like joy at the hands of the clergy;
May we celebrate and forfeit nothing before that lethargy.
