Manipulation and Lies

Strong Captain

The tide, the tide, is it finally turning?

Or does this old sailor still need to heed warning?

He sees no end in sight

Dark clouds and deep waves as far as the eye can see

How could this be?

Almost a year now, fighting the same sea

Feeling like, he is living in a dream

No matter where he travels

The dark clouds follow

No passes

His life?

Turning into ashes

Dust to dust

Haven’t I suffered enough?

The sailors’ question aimed at the sky

He knows the truth, there is not a guy

Up in those clouds, the vacancy felt

Knowing at that point; he’d have to do it himself

He tightened his belt

Gripped his steering wheel tight

Embraced for the fight of his life

Sleeves rolled up; belt squeezed tight

He gazed the horizon, looking for a fight

Look! Cap’ shouted

To the northwest, oh what a test

His heart pounded inside his chest

So nervous inside, never able tell

To the outside world

He looked so cool and calm

But while approaching the massive wave

He began to yell

His screams were heard for miles, do tell

The captain would not be defeated once again

And just as he began to climb its crest

Doubt began to fill his breast

The ship positioned in a most horrible way

The captain inside, fear now leading the way

It was at this moment that he must decide

The odds not looking good, should he just let it ride

Allow the wave to decide his fate

Or should he dig deep

Fight till he is blue in the face?

No quit in the captain

This was never a choice

Always possessed with a strong inner voice

He gripped the wheel tighter

The wood starts to crack

He needed his grip tight, so he could lean back

What a strength he possessed

The bow began to turn

Not left or right, but upward

He would learn

Providing the right angle

Completing the 90-degree turn

Finally allowing, the captain to get over that hump

Once the crest was topped

The journey downward complete

Bright, sunny skies, rewarded at his feat

No longer a cloud in sight, the sun shining down

The sailor could finally relieve his frown

Printed on his face since the year first started

Finally, the storms had departed

It wasn’t until he faced his fears head on

He wondered

Could he have employed that method from the start of?

Must he have endured those 10 long months?

He needed to survive the rocky shoals

Proving to himself

He is worth the risk

To garner wisdom imparted

Knowledge only gained when finished

Not started

This question he asked to the sky once again

Dear Heavenly Feather, Dear Deeply Departed

Not expecting an answer

The intrepid Captain had begun to be fled

Only to hear a voice from up, up above

This is what It said

Dear Captain,

Your bravery will provide tales near and far

What made you seek the largest wave of them all?

The captain replied, it wasn’t a choice

He could always hear its’ voice

Calling to him, his greatest challenge

Why put it off, and continue to get ravaged?

The voice in the sky, surprised by his reply

But Captain, I never answered your call

What voice did you hear?

It was from within, the Captain described

Screamed at me to forge my own life

Providing me with unknown gears

The weight was lifted

No fear pushing him down

It was this courage that made him light as down

Lifting the bow, barely ascending the crown

The Man in the sky, perplexed by this answer

Wondering if the Captain could supplant him

Do not worry Sir, it’s not your job I seek, The Captain said

It is me who gives myself strength internally

Eternally grateful for your presence now known

But I never needed your help

All I ever needed was belief in myself.
