A Man Dressed in Brown

A Man Dressed In Brown                                 May 16, 2017

It was long ago,

With the wind blowing snow,

She sat by the fire,

Waiting for something to transpire,

When a knock on the door sounded,

The lady was astounded,

Who on this dreary night,

Would tread through snow in no light,

She whisked to the door,

With her dress dragging upon the floor,

She saw a man dressed in brown,

And upon his head was a crown,

Which was tarnished and dull,

The man was in a lull,

He looked upon her with a smile,

Which filled her with bile,

He spoke to her a single phrase,

Won’t you invite me in this holiday,

She couldn’t fathom a no,

So she let it go,

Leading him in the castle,

He asked if he was a hassle,

She looked upon him with spite,

She said no, with all her might,

He turned away again,

To look on what he would gain,

The castle, though foreboding, held many treasures,

He smiled to himself for these pleasures,

The young lady turned and he saw his time,

He struck her upon the head, thus ending her lifetime.
