The Man

I am a man...

No...

I am THE man,

the man that my forefathers molded me to be,

I am the leader,

the silent leader,

guiding from afar,

choosing to lead beyond measure,

all under the first impression of free and chosen expression,

so please...

take the time to give us a round of applause...

be so kind to clap for my broken flaws,

watch me as i step up to society,

watch me as i MAN UP!

watch and listen as i stand for roll call,

as i am enlisted in this army of high determination,

stepping up to be a man,

clap for my boldness...

my boldness to have enough integrity to address a beautiful lady in a dress,

one that has chosen to be so highly educated,

choosing not to follow the common mediocrity,

infuencing me to set the bar high enough so that i never fall into the arms of this common girl named "mediocre"

See, I'd rather stand in unity and give back to my community,

while pausing to watch as my critics flock to sit and contradict,

I'll show them one day that their non-belief to me was useless as the "A" in "OK",

See ignorance is bliss,

so when they see me pass in my suit with pockets full of success i'll simply pause & say,

"Don't even split your lips to try and come at me with a cold diss"

Everytime they hear the story of success project out of my mouth,

that'll show  them that my belief was always stronger than their doubt,

I'll show them what it means to have the swagger of a prospect instead of a suspect...

I WILL contradict everybody that said i would be a nobody,

because i will be SOMEBODY!

that same somebody that everybody expected to be a nobody,

Every morning God gives me?

I will dress in my fly tuxedo of freedom,

walking out the door with a strong fragrance of determination lingering behind me everywhere i go,

while making it a must to never leave my keys to success,

as i walk on the road and up the hill to higher education,

into the business world,

as strong minded as my forefathers and godfathers when they took this same route,

I'll make it my business to never look back at that disparged signed labeled "failure" in the back of my mind,

Because from now on?

I'm gonna stride with an uncommon swagger,

with the hunger for success heavy on my chest,

while thanking the Lord above for even making it possible for brothers like me,

to be able to say one day,

"I am a man.. No.. I am THE man."
