The Man

Don’t slouch down!Wipe off that frown! The chapel is just right uptown.
You met him twiceHe seemed real nice.Too bad you didn’t know of his dirty little vice. Day turned to nightI lost my fight. My last resort was getting high as a kite. One day he pushed me to the brink.I took my pills and had a drink. As I lay over the kitchen sink,I wish I never fell for his wink.
My life has ended far too soon.If only I hadn’t swoonFor a man who promised me the moon.
