Mama said that all mortals

Mama said that all mortals kill.

They kill, said mama, because

They cannot live without the thrill.

Mama said that they would kill me.

To protect myself, my hands began to cast

Shimmering silver bars,

That looped about one another in dance,

For mama said they wanted to kill me.

To protect myself, I built the winding gates

And made it so that no doors exists

The great cage clipped my wings,

But mama said they could hurt me.

But

Sister said that love can be found.

It’s found, said sister, because

Love is to the Lord completely bound.

Sister said that love would find me.

To search myself, my eyes began

To peer through the binding gates,

That protected me from the murders.

For sister said that love needed to find me.

To search myself, I reached outside

And cried for someone to save me,

Locked inside this prison of hollow words.

But love could not find me.
