Making Assumptions

Sun, 09/15/2013 - 13:52 -- dannie

I get so much as a glare,

For no reason but a choice of expression,

The way I wear my hair.

They take a guess

That highlights mean trouble, blonde means stupid,

I don't need this stress.

Will you feel better?

If instead of torn jeans, leather, band tees,

I stuck with Eagle sweaters?

I do my work.

The girls in the cheer wear don't.

Why do they get extra perks?

What I wear and how I dress,

Should never, ever be the way you

Grade me, judge me, or assess.

I'm just me,

Listen for a moment. Watch.

And you'll see.
