Like A Lover

Sitting on her desk, it feels nothing for her;
To both item and man she does not exist.
She reaches out, hoping for an answer
And receives nothing in return.

To both item and man she does not exist;
She could do what she wanted without him knowing.
She reaches out, hoping for an answer—
Hoping for enlightenment and receiving emptiness.

She could do what she wanted without him knowing.
She could run away, be successful, and he wouldn’t care.
Hoping for enlightenment but receiving emptiness,
She imagines what life could be like.

She could run away, be successful, and he wouldn’t care—
She could do whatever she wanted.
She imagines what life could be like
If she could let go of his image and move on.

She could do whatever she wanted
If only she could throw this object away.
If she could let go of his image and move on,
The last thing holding her back.

If only she could throw this object away—
And with the item, all connection with him.
The last thing holding her back
Would be gone, and she could move forward.

And with the item, all connection with him
Would dissipate. She could be free.
It would be gone and she could move forward.
She could learn to love again.
