His hands caress my face,
His arms wrap around me in a warm embrace.
He whispers in my ear,
"I am always here."
After a swift kiss,
He leaves me wanting more of this.
This sweet feeling of love,
This gift from above.
I watch him as he backs away,
Not knowing what to say.
I can't stop his decision, his fate,
He's chosen and now I know it's too late.
I watched my love that day,
Fall from a cliff, onto the bay.
My scream echoes through the still air,
And as I watch, he's no longer there.
The waves crash into the rocks below,
And I am forced to always know,
He left me with this life, destroyed,
Knowing I was always loved by this boy.

This poem was something that came to my thoughts while reading some of Edgar Allen Poe's great creations. He has inspired many of my poems and through his work I see that poetry is just a different art form and a way to convey a story from a spectacular point of view that may or may not be strange or difficult to interpret the true meaning behind. But of course that's where the true raw material comes from and the beauty of it is great.
