A Love Unknown

The love of my life,

Or so I think,

Sitting right over there,

Just barely out of reach.

She sits and she stares,

At another man,

When the true one for her,

Is holding out his hand.

One might believe,

After all the years as freinds,

That something more might transpire,

Something you just can't pretend.

For true love is something only found once,

Only once, and you know, that she is the right one.

But if you let her get away,

You'll never find another,

Who can measure up to the one,

Now a happy mother.

You think and you pray about the right thing to say,

But at the moment that matters,

All your thoughts are scattered,

As her happy smile erases them,

And all the words meant to be said,

Are stuck in your head and never escape.

Be bold, be brave, think of the right thing to say,

And once you see her beautiful smile,

That radiant face,

Tell her what you always meant to say,

From the first day to the last,

Those three simple words,

"I love you"

Escaping your lips at last.
