Lost Threads

Once, three friends were bound in laughter’s embrace,
Their lives intertwined, no secrets, no space.
They shared every dream under vast, starlit skies,
A trio of hearts with unbreakable ties.

But life cast its shadows, and distance crept near,
As seasons passed by, the bond grew unclear.
When the world went quiet and doors closed tight,
Their voices were echoes lost deep in the night.

Years rolled on, and they met once more,
Three familiar faces, but hearts felt sore.
Two grew closer, in secrets they’d confide,
While one stood watching, heart aching inside.

Left out of the warmth, fading from view,
That one friend withdrew, unsure what to do.
In the laughter shared by the other two,
They felt like a stranger, someone they outgrew.

So they stepped back gently, their heart turning cold,
Watching friendships shift, their story retold.
Longing for warmth but braced for the end,
They let go of the titles “lover” and “friend.”

Now, years have passed, and faces remain,
Etched in memories both lovely and plain.
They pass on the street, strangers anew,
With lives now separate, friendships untrue.

What once was a bond as fierce as flame
Is now just ashes, without shape or name.
No glances exchanged, no echoes remain,
Just three faded figures in memory’s rain.
