Lost Embers

His love was endless

Like the sun, it burned fierce and bright

They shared this love

Until hers cooled to an ember

And he could not reignite this flame thought he tried,

He blew and blew and blew

But in the end the only result

Is that the ember was blown to another flame

Now she is just a breeze on his cheek

A face seen in the sky

A love was lost in the night

The moon its only witness

Betrayal felt, a heart smashed open

Crashing to the ground and fading

This heart rebuilt anew, with pieces of granite and steel

Forever closed off to the world

No weapon or person can find a way to open it up again

No key or love is strong enough to tear down these defenses

Love is lost to this man

And no one has helped, and no one can.
