Lost

I knew contentment once

I knew where it was found

When sitting in a tree

Or feet flat on the ground

I knew what it meant

To need no more or less

To find myself content

And able to take rest

I knew contentment once

The inner place of peace

The place where doubt and worry

Could for the moment cease

I knew how to be happy

And live within that light

The feeling of contentment

Which made the world seem bright

I humbly beg for wisdom

For I know not what I lost

Only that contentment

Seems to have been the cost.
